Kamairicha is a tea processed in the “Chinese” style—oxidation was halted using dry heat, and its shaping resembles Chinese teas.
Akino Kamairi comes from the summer harvest, which makes it a rare exception. I often mention during tastings that, in theory, it is possible to have high-quality green tea from the second harvest, but I had never encountered one—until now. This still holds true for sencha, but for kamairicha, the impossible has just happened. The tea’s perfect processing enhances its qualities, and I can confidently recommend it as an excellent choice for a warmer green tea, all while remaining in a price range that won’t empty your wallet.
