Ikenowaki, also known as "Sencha by the Pond," is an invigorating tea with a pleasant sweetness typical of the Yabukita cultivar.
Thanks to careful Asamushi processing (short steaming), the tea retains a delicate flavor and fresh aroma that transports you to the land of deep mountains and green forests of the Eastern White River. This tea is an ideal companion for moments of peace and meditation.
Nengancha 念願茶 is the name of the plantation located in the village of Higashishirakawa, "Eastern White River," in Gifu Prefecture. At an altitude of 450-500 meters, surrounded by dense forests and facing south, this plantation benefits from a unique microclimate ideal for tea cultivation. High annual rainfall (about 2500 mm), frequent mists, and significant temperature differences between day and night provide perfect conditions for producing high-quality sencha.
The lower part of this small plantation is called 池の脇 (Ikenowaki, "Beside the Pond") because it is located next to an old reservoir for storing mountain water for rice fields.
